About Laura

laura

I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 34899) serving San Ramon, Danville, Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore and surrounding communities. It is my honor to provide psychotherapy and counseling services to couples, adolescents/teenagers, individuals, and families within my private practice located in San Ramon.

California State University, Sacramento is where I obtained both my Master of Science degree in Counseling, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  I continue to enhance my experience as a psychotherapist by staying current with the latest psychological research, in addition to advancing my skills and knowledge through continued extended education and consultations.

For close to 30 years, I have remained passionate about helping people address and reach their therapeutic goals. I have vast experience in providing treatment for clients in crisis and trauma, in addition to being a strong advocate for children (and their families), as well as victims of crime.  With compassion, empathy and understanding, the crisis intervention/prevention therapy I have provided over the years includes (but is not limited to) issues such as: depression & suicide, grief & loss, infidelity, child abuse/neglect & bullying, domestic violence, and substance abuse/dependency.  My experience stems from my background, having worked in settings such as Children’s Protective Services; psychiatric hospitals, juvenile courts, school settings and my private practice.

My "style" of therapy is one of an interactive, cognitive-behavioral therapist with a therapeutic approach of providing support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I like to integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client.  Basically, I like to begin with each new client "right where they are at" in order to obtain a good sense and therapeutic understanding of what they are bringing into therapy and struggling with.  This approach allows me to appropriately assess and determine the best treatment plan for them moving forward.

I welcome the opportunity to speak with you to answer any questions you may have about getting started in therapy with me. Through a free and thorough phone consultation, my hope is for you to be able to gain a sense of who I am; and how I provide safe, honest and ethical treatment for my clients. I strongly believe that an initial session with me will allow you the opportunity to assess for yourself if we may be a good fit; which is an integral part of the therapy process.
